On the flip side, any money that you're holding onto is wasted money that can be spent on something that makes you money.

You don't have money to spend all willy nilly. In the beginning stages of the game, don't buy anything that won't make you money or make you more efficient. Some options are only available based on what you have selected. If something doesn't seem to be working, first check to see if you have the correct implement selected (pressing 'G' changes what you have selected). There is no need to plough, but you might like to do it for role playing, and you will NEED to plough if you want to make your own fields, or combine fields. Workflow of farming in FS15: Cultivate, Fertilize (Spreader or Spray no difference), Sow, Harvest, Repeat. A few youtubers that do some decent farm sim things: RDAllen, FritoLaes, Stockoglaws (smaller youtubers, but good commentary). I haven't seen a comprehensive beginner's guide, but I'd recommend checking out youtube for some good tips (but I'm sure you've already poked around there).

If you have any other questions feel free to ask me! The goal of the game is to earn money, buy better equipment, fields, and harvest more advanced crops. You can even fertilize fully grown crops and still get that double yield bonus. I usually sell one of my lower horsepower tractors, the plow, and the weight that came on the tractor to buy a fertilizer spreader early on. You can also buy a fertilizer spreader or a sprayer and fertilize your crops after they've been planted to double your yield upon harvest. Every now and then a special demand will go up at a certain buyer and you can make a huge amount of money if you happen to have a large stockpile of said crop. Icons beside each type of crop will show if the price of it is higher or lower than normal. There are arrows on either side of this screen that are easy to miss that let you view all of the other buyers. Go to your PDA with the "I" key and then to right where it shows your stocks and prices each buyer is paying. If you want to sell your grain, first check who's paying what.

When full, drive the trailer to the silos near where you filled up on seeds and you should see a grate you can drive over and the Q key will dump your load. Drive along side the harvester's left side and a pipe will extend to fill up the trailer. While your harvester is auto-harvesting a field with a hired worker, grab the tractor next to the tipper and hook up to it. I only use it once I have all of my crops planted and no other work that needs to be done except wait. Your vehicles also have daily maintenance and your workers cost so many dollars so be careful when advancing time. This does not speed up your tractors or workers, but speeds up the time of day and the rate at which your crops grow. It starts right in front of said field.Īttach equipment with the Q key, most equipment does not come attached by default at the start of the game.ħ and 8 change the time multiplier.

Then start your cultivator at the field which has already been harvested. After filling you can freely choose which seed you'd like to plant using O on your keyboard.Īfter filling and choosing your crop, set the sower to seed the field that's already been cultivated/plowed (an uncultivated field has cut grass all over it). The sower needs seeds to function, these are acquired at the seed bags which it starts right next to. You can hire a worker to automatically do this for you once you're lined up with the field and he'll finish the rest of the field at a cost. So harvest the field that's already grown with your harvester with an attached header. One of them is ready for harvest, one is ready to seed, and the other needs to be plowed/cultivated. You finally have 3 fields, marked as green numbers on your map (9 on your keyboard). You then have a tipper (trailer for transporting grain), a cultivator (for preparing fields before sowing (seeding)), a plow (which does the same as the cultivator but can also create fields), and a sower (plants seeds on a cultivated/plowed field) You also have one harvester and a header (front attachment) You start with 4 tractors, two of them are low horsepower and the other 2 have a bit more. Here's something I can put together real quick:
